Productive Cycle
1. MOLDS AND EQUIPMENT DESIGN
The design is done by the collaboration with customers to deepen and analyze their exigences, proposing the optimal solution.
The molds construction, the dies for cutting and all the necessary equipment take place thanks to using of the latest generation technologies.
2. RAW MATERIAL
Thanks to the accurate controls, STEL S.r.l. guarantees the excellent quality of the raw material. We use any type of brass alloy in compliance with European and world regulations.
3. CUTTING AND GRAPHING
The brass bars are stored on arrival in the STEL S.r.l. and their diameter is variable from 13 to 55 mm, depending on the measurements of the piece to be produced. The bars are then sent to the cutting department, where we have 4 new generation numerical control sawing machines, guaranteeing very high processing precision. This last aspect is of fundamental importance to ensure the maximum quality of the pieces that are produced by the extrusion process.
The pieces are then sent to the graphitizing process, a preparatory process for the molding phase where it is possible to achieve faster and more uniform heating of the pieces, have the best lubrication, favor the brass sliding and the subsequent detachment of the molded piece from the mold.

4. MOLDING
The production department of STEL S.r.l. has 5 mechanical presses from 200 to 330 tons, allowing us to print pieces weighing between a few grams and a maximum of 1 kg. The molding department, like the cutting department, has cutting-edge production technologies and control tools, in order to ensure that the production remains stable and so the quality of the pieces is constant and high.
The graphited pieces, after heating in natural gas ovens with temperatures close to 700 ° C, are loaded into the presses in an automatic cycle, in a warehouse recently renovated with the installation of new generation machines. For each press, an optical pyrometer ensures that the temperature of the incoming pieces complies with the tolerance parameters of the specific brass alloy. The molded pieces coming out of the presses are then collected in an automatic cycle, inside metal containers.
5. SHEARING AND SANDBLASTING
The deburring of the pieces takes place in a semi-automatic and automatic cycle in the shearing department, where STEL S.r.l. has a series of four-station hydraulic presses with high production rates.
Then follows the final sandblasting phase, for which we have two automatic ramping belt systems, through which it is possible to finish pieces of even very small dimensions.
6. QUALITY CHECK
The final inspection of the pieces is carried out by qualified people, always up to date and thanks to the use of sophisticated tools.
